This is the history of the Sainte-Croix district from bordeaux

Along the dockks, the Sainte-Croix is one of the oldest district in Bordeaux, it houses the Abbey of Sainte-Croix, which was the seat of the parish since 1130. If the choir of the church was reserved for Benedictine monks, the transept and the aisles were the faithful of the parish. The main altar was dedicated to the Virgin, an object of pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Sea, ex-votos illustrated scenes of rescue ships in distress.

In the past the "rue des Bouviers" was the place of those who kept the horse carriages which were used to make the goods ship. Shoemakers worked leather of "Bazadais". The potters were practicing in the "rue des Fours" ....
