Place du parlement The name of the place is a powerful tribute to the Parliament of Bordeaux. Louis XI gave Chinon letters of institution of a parliament in Bordeaux in 1462.

Its jurisdiction included the seneschal of Aquitaine, Landes, the Bazadais, of Agen, the Perigord and Saintonge region.

Parliament and settled in November 1462 in the palace of the Ombrière. He played an important role in 1545 during the revolt of the Gabelle and during the Fronde.

In 1665, he was exiled in Agen and Réole and in 1790 he was removed.

Among the members has counted this institution, we find Montaigne, La Boetie the poet, Charron, etc..

The place was called the Royal Market Place, and Market of Freedom in the Revolution. The fountain located in the center date of the Second Empire.
