The door Cailhau (its name evokes pebbles accumulated in its feet by the Garonne which served for ballasting vessels), built in the end of the XVth century, was a part of ramparts.
She acted as triumphal arch and as defensive door.
Of Gothic style the Renaissance (machicolations, aigues roofs: 35 metres high, attic windows, lanterns), this one contains a statue of king Charles VIII which took gained the battle of Fornoue in 1495.
Today this door takes you towards the district Saint Pierre and the Holy street Catherine.
